"Please join us for a lecture by Prof. Michael O. Emerson, one of the leading scholars on race and religion. Prof. Emerson‘s work in this area began with Divided by Faith: Evangelical Religion and the Problem of Race in America, which was named the 2001 Distinguished Book of the Year by the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion. This work has been followed up by several award-winning works, including United by Faith (co-authored, Oxford, 2004), People of the Dream (Princeton, 2008), and Blacks and Whites in Christian America (co-authored, NYU, 2012).
Professor Emerson is currently directing the Panel Study of American Religion and Ethnicity (PS-ARE) that is funded by the Lilly Endowment. He is Co-Director of the Kinder Institute for Urban Research at Rice University."
